Good things and weird things

First... the most amazing cover of Jolene ever:

I've been listening to this all day. xD Thank god no one's home or I'm sure someone would've killed me by now.

Second- I has a job now! :D I did before, but the hours and days I've been working have been dwindling since Christmas, and I only worked part-time to begin with so that hasn't been working out well. I don't know why no one told me that I was apparently just seasonal help so I would've kept looking for a different job, but whatever. This is the 2nd time someone I've worked for just conveniently decided not to mention something like this to me, and its getting old. Its not that I forgot, or wasn't paying attention- literally nothing about being temporarily hired was mentioned.

But at any rate, I applied for a job in a building downtown, and actually got it! Originally I was applying for a fundraising job for a project the company was managing, but now the guy's not sure whether I'll be put there or given a position in another department- phone service, etc. I honestly wouldn't mind being put elsewhere- I'm not too sure how great I'd be at trying to guilt-trip people out of money over the phone xD And both positions pay the same and have the same benefits, so either way its a good deal. And either way I know I have a job, so there's no complaining from me. Orientation is later today. Hoping all goes well!

On the weird side of things, I saw a ladybug today. I've also seen a bunch of birds that aren't supposed to be back yet. :\ I've seen a bunch of grackles around, and the geese are already back. A few weeks ago a mourning dove hit one of the windows, too. Poor thing snapped its neck, but at least it died quickly. It was gone by the time I got outside. She's become my next project, which is already underway. I'd like to clean and keep the skull, and I'm in the process of drying the wings. The rest of the body was respectfully buried. its just freaking me out that so many things have returned that shouldn't be here yet, and coupled with the ridiculous weather- we got 3 inches of snow over Friday and Saturday, which all melted on Monday when it went back to 55 degrees- I'm getting more than a little concerned. :( I just hope this was a one-year fluke and not what things are going to be like from here on out... these are all pretty bad signs.

I think so, too. Its a natural cycle, but we've sped it up a good bit. Its still freaking me out though. Ladybugs and mourning doves aren't supposed to be back now! Someone reported a bear wandering around upstate(PA) a week or so ago too. It woke up from hibernation and kinda stumbled around a bit before heading back in the direction it came in, presumably to go back to sleep xD

And thanks :) Its nice to give a 'second life' to passed animals, especially when their lives ended so abruptly. It'll be a new experience for me too... never worked with something so "fresh" before. Drying the wings is simple... getting the skull clean will be interesting. Never had to deal with skin/organs/etc before!

Congratulations on the job!!!

I think spring is coming very early this year. The flowers are blooming here already.

Thank ya! :) Here's hoping it works out.

I agree... its just unnerving *how* early. I see things blooming in my yard too, or at least trying to xD Haven't seen any other bugs besides the ladybug, but I have spotted more mourning doves and some geese. Oddly not a single robin though.

And now I can't quit staring at your icon, and the tune is in my head xD
